Youth Ministry
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." - Luke 18:16
Our Mission
To lead our youth into a deeper, closer relationship with Jesus Christ. To instill in them the confidence to live out their teen years with the knowledge of who they are in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
To emphasize that Jesus Christ is the center of all we are and all that we do, through the LIFETEEN, TEC and QUEST retreats as well as through formal and informal prayer.
Our youth group is doing an apparel fundraiser to help fund our trip to the Steubenville Youth Conference.
These are the shirt designs they will be wearing as they represent Holy Family at the conference.
We want to offer you the opportunity to purchase these shirts, as well as long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts.
Please print and return this form with a check made out to HOLY FAMILY by June 1st OR contact Terra Murphy at 573-795-0571 for Venmo information.
EMPOWER PARISHES TO EVANGELIZE
We believe that when a teenager encounters Christ through the beauty of the Catholic faith, they will transform their parish, community, and culture. We’ve seen it happen time and time again.
The Life Teen movement consists of resources that provide solid Catholic teaching and youth ministry experiences for youth in middle school through high school so you can spend less time at your desk and more time ministering to teens.
The goal of Life Teen and Edge is to provide a safe and fun place for youth to find a solid Catholic community, get answers to their questions, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. We give you a playbook to create the youth ministry you’ve always wanted. Our resources empower you and your core team to evangelize teens into life-long disciples. And we’re not the new kids on the block. We’ve been supporting youth ministers like you for nearly four decades. We’ve learned some things along the way and want to share them with you.
Our resources are offered as a subscription so that parishes have the tools to address the needs of teenagers today – not five years ago.
Quest is a fast-paced 24-hour Christian experience for 13 to 15 year olds. It is a time to come together to find out about God, friendships, and self in a fun-filled, exciting, amusing, thoughtful, and carefree surrounding. A time to meet new people while praying, playing, singing, and sharing with them. Quest gives you the chance to search for the real you.
Quest is held at the Franciscan Retreat Center of Quincy University and lasts from 6:00pm Friday to 5:30pm Saturday. The cost for a candidate is $50 and includes room, snacks, breakfast and lunch, and other surprises. Adult observers interested in working with youth are also welcome.
Steubenville STL Mid-America is a high-energy youth conference where thousands of teens are invited to encounter Jesus Christ through dynamic speakers, engaging music, the Sacraments, small group discussions, and fellowship with other teens. Our conference is an outreach of Franciscan University in partnership with the St. Louis Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry. Two conferences are held every year in July and take place on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.
See our FUNDRAISERS section for ways to help support our students as they make this unforgettable trip to Steuby!
Teens Encounter Christ
In the three-day weekend of TEC, you can experience being part of a vibrant, loving, and supportive faith community in which the friendship of Jesus Christ becomes a real possibility that makes sense.
TEC is very human. Team members of adults and youth from various walks of life entrust to the participants some of the struggles, joys, and feelings they have experienced in their own lives. TEC provides a space to reflect upon one’s own ideals, hopes, dreams, and problems; to discover a God that you can believe in ... a Christ you can encounter as risen and alive in your midst.
TEC weekends are held at the Franciscan Retreat Center of Quincy University, 18th & Seminary Road, Quincy, IL 62301. The weekend begins Saturday morning at 9:30am and ends Monday evening 6:00-6:30pm. Candidates ages 16-21 cost $50.00 and observers ages 22+ cost $100.00. Anyone of any faith denomination ages 16 and older are welcome to participate.

TOTUS TUUS (Latin for Totally Yours) named after St. John Paul II’s papal motto is a fun and energetic parish based summer catechetical program for both grade school age children and middle and high school youth.
TOTUS TUUS gathers together college students and seminarians from across the United States onto teaching teams of four in order to train them and send them out on the road to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in various participating parishes throughout the Diocese of Jefferson City.
The teachers’ youthfulness, energy, and ability to witness to the Faith make them particularly effective with children and young adults.
Grade School Program
The Totus Tuus Grade School Program is designed for children entering first through sixth grades in the upcoming school year. The Grade School Program runs Monday through Friday.
The students are encouraged to be clear and consistent in their faith. They are shown how to view their Lord as a good Father. This personal relationship gives them the confidence to be Christ’s witnesses in the world around them. Finally, Totus Tuus endeavors to show the youth that a humble and courageous desire to know God must be based upon a steadfast and disciplined life of prayer combined with the reception of the sacraments.
Junior and Senior High School Program
TOTUS TUUS offers an evening program for junior and senior high school youth. Junior High youth are those entering the 7th or 8th grades, and Senior High youth are those entering grades 9-12 for the upcoming school year. These grade levels meet Sunday through Thursday.
We have found that vibrant, faithful, college-aged teachers can effectively impact the youth at this age. This is a great opportunity for teens to see older peers on fire for their faith and insight into discerning their vocation.
The Totus Tuus Junior and Senior High School Program comprises instruction, small group discussions, quiet meditation, prayer, and fellowship. The team teaches in such a way as to offer a dialogue in which each person feels respected in his or her most basic dignity.
Each night there is time for fellowship, snacks, and presentations. Adoration and Reconciliation will also take place on one of the nights (usually Wednesday), and on Thursday there is an opportunity for a social night.
